School Activities and Clubs
Norbury School Activities and Clubs
We offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs. These are run at lunchtimes, before and after school. They range from sports activities, to music to homework clubs. Clubs are either run by teaching staff or qualified coaches.
School Houses
Pupils in KS2 are each assigned a House Team which they represent during their time in Junior School. Through being a Norburian and reflecting the ethos of the school, pupils earn points for their team which are collected regularly and a running total displayed in school. Pupils represent their House at the annual sports day, working together to try to win the House Cup.
The House teams are named after some of the local roads. They are:
Wellesley – Green
St. Kilda’s – Yellow
Welldon – Red
Oakley – Blue
Team Norbury
Pupil voice is an integral part of life at Norbury School. Our school council, Team Norbury, consists of two children from each class from reception to year 6.
Their role is to represent their class and work as a team to make our school even better!
eCadets
We live in an increasingly digital world and it is important that everyone at Norbury learns how to stay safe and become confident digital citizens who know their rights and responsibilities online.
eCadets meet weekly afterschool throughout the school year to learn, discuss and promote esafety across the school and online on DBPrimary.
eCadets apply for their positions at the beginning of year 5 and take on the role until they leave year 6.
Young Carers
Our Young Carers are going from strength to strength, we currently have 20 children from Year 1 to Year 6 .
A young carer is somebody under 18 who helps look after a parent, sibling or a family member who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol.
We meet once a week and enjoy planned activities both in and out of school. So far we have cooked, made models out of clay, visited the local park, visited Bentley Wood to feed the deer, been to visit other schools and met other Young Carers, played games and we have many more activities planned until July.
Did you know that there are 700,000 Young Carers across the UK? We know there are likely to be Young Carers in every school.
Here at Norbury School children are able to share with any member of staff if they feel they might be a Young Carer or post a message in the Young Carer’s box by the School Office.
